Sevilla take advantage in Copa del Rey

(GSM) Sevilla put themselves in fine position to qualify for the 2009/10 Copa del Rey final with a 2-0 semi-final, first-leg win over Getafe on Wednesday.

While both sides had chances early on, Sevilla looked the most likely to score a goal.

Adriano missed from close range in the 28th minute for the home side, and Álvaro Negredo squandered another chance just two minutes later.

Luis Fabiano then missed a glorious chance in the 41st minute for Sevilla when he shot from inside the area, but a fine stop by Óscar Ustari preserved the scoreline at 0-0.

But just before half-time, Sevilla found the breakthrough when Fabiano, unmarked at the back post, headed in a cross from countryman Adiano.

The second produced little in the way of gilt-edged chances…

Robson-Kanu´s stand-out showing causes selection headache for Pulis

Tony Pulis says Hal Robson-Kanu s superb performance in West Brom s 2-1 win over Southampton has left him with a selection headache for Monday s contest against Hull City.

Robson-Kanu joined West Brom on a free transfer in August, but has played second fiddle to Salomon Rondon at The Hawthorns this season.

However, the Wales forward made the most of his first Premier League start for the Baggies by scoring a spectacular goal early in the second half after Matt Phillips had cancelled out Shane Long s opener at St Mary s Stadium.

The 27-year-old may have had limited playing time this term, but Pulis singled out Robson-Kanu for individual praise and has been left with a dilemma when rock-bottom Hull visit The Hawthorns.

Robson-Kanu when he s come on he s be…

David Beckham´s Inter Miami violated MLS rules over Matuidi signing

MLS concluded David Beckham s Inter Miami violated the league s roster and salary rules following the signing of France international midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Inter Miami lured Matuidi from Serie A champions Juventus to the United States for their inaugural season in 2020 – the World Cup-winning star teaming up with Gonzalo Higuain after the club used targeted allocation money (TAM).

But as Inter Miami prepare for their second season in MLS, which kicks off under Phil Neville against LA Galaxy on Sunday, MLS deemed the club were not roster compliant – meaning the team effectively had four designated players last season rather than the three allowed.

Higuain, Rodolfo Pizarro and Matias Pellegrini were Inter Miami s listed designated players in 2020.

Two sides who already find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Bundesliga table, Bayern Munich will make the trip to Furth on Friday night.

Already rooted to the foot of the table and knowing that they face a hugely overwhelming test on home soil, Head Coach Stefan Leitl has seen his side fail to lay down any kind of marker so far. Throwing away the lead last weekend away at Hertha Berlin and eventually suffering a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat on the road, the Cloverleaves have managed to muster ju…
